Description

There are few comprehensive textbooks available to special educators responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring resource room programs. McNamara's book fills this void by providing teachers and administrators with helpful, practical information and by exploring the role of the resource room teacher as it relates to three major functions: assessment, instruction, and consultation. The information provided should also assist administrators and supervisors to evaluate their own existing resource room programs.

Barry E. McNamara is Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Learning Disabilities Clinic at Lehman College of The City University of New York.

Reviews

". ..a very useable text. The charts and forms which are included will be helpful for new resource room teachers. The Methods section is well done. I anticipate that teachers will use this text as a reference for many years. It will also provide a good overview for administrators and regular education teachers who want to know what a resource room is. " — Ruth F. Gold, Hofstra University

"The book's strength is its emphasis on bringing together practical ideas and strategies from disparate sources into a single volume. Clearly the author has much applied experience and information, and the book clearly reflects this orientation. " — Dianne L. Ferguson, University of Oregon
