Ask Us Anything About University Press Publishing

This winter SUNY Press is proudly hosting the Association of University Presses informational site AskUP.  This site is an excellent resource for authors, prospective authors, university press staff and anyone who wants to know more about the process of scholarly publishing. Each quarter, a different university press member of the AUPresses community is selected to solicit questions on a particular publishing related subject with which the community grapples and answer those questions to the best of their ability, culling the decades of expertise at their press. The categories of questions answered are wide and evolving, ranging from processes around acquisitions and production, to marketing and publicity, contracts and permissions. We’re thrilled to have been selected to solicit and answer questions between now and March. Answers will post in April. Please visit https://ask.up.hcommons.org/submit-a-question to pose your questions!

The Association of University Presses (AUPresses) is an organization of more than 160 international nonprofit scholarly publishers. Since 1937, AUPresses has promoted the essential role of a global community of publishers whose mission is to ensure academic excellence and cultivate knowledge. The Association holds integrity, equity and inclusion, stewardship, and intellectual freedom as core values. AUPresses members are active across many scholarly disciplines, including the humanities, arts, and sciences, publish significant regional and literary work, and are innovators in the world of digital publishing.
