Rights and Permissions

If you would like to request permission to reprint content from a SUNY Press product for use in another publication, please send a request to our rights and permissions department and include the following information:

1. Author, Title, and ISBN of the SUNY Press product

2. Page numbers and/or word count of the content you’d like to reprint

3. Details about the publication in which you will include the reprinted SUNY Press content:

  • Working title
  • Author or editor’s name
  • Publisher’s name
  • Estimated publication date
  • Estimated list price
  • Estimated initial print run

Note: rights to many of the illustrate found in our products are not controlled by SUNY Press but by the owner of the image. If the material is credited to another source, you’ll need to direct your request accordingly.

Classroom Use (Print or Digital)

Faculty wishing to incorporate portions of SUNY Press content into print or digital coursepacks, including those delivered through a Learning Management System, can request access via the Copyright Clearance Center. This service is for faculty creating materials for personal course use and not publication.

If the Copyright Clearance Center cannot grant permission, email your request to our rights and permissions department and include the following information:

  • Author, Title, and ISBN of the SUNY Press product
  • School and professor requesting material to be copied
  • Page numbers of requested material
  • Approximate number of copies needed or users who will access the content

Subsidiary Rights & Other Requests

Other permissions are available for most of our products. If you are interested in acquiring rights not mentioned above, please send an email outlining your request to our rights and permissions team.
