Paul Grondahl and Steve Jacobs have been journalism colleagues at the Albany Times Union for the past two decades and have collaborated on projects as diverse as solitary confinement in New York's prisons, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and Hurricane Katrina. They have been honored with numerous journalism prizes, including the Scripps Howard National Journalism Award, the Associated Press Award, and the New York Newspapers Association Award. Grondahl is the author of several books, including Mayor Corning: Albany Icon, Albany Enigma, also available from SUNY Press. Jacobs's recent assignments have taken him to Northern Ireland, Somalia, and Japan.
